That said I have always found "system doesn't matter" exceptionally dismissive and overall harmful to ttrpgs as a whole

With all due respect "system doesn't matter" is a genuinely destructive statement that is outright insulting to anyone who has spent any time doing any sort of game design in ttrpgs.
The *only* saving grace of the statement is the context that it was originally pushback against some shitlords.
