Of those traits we have total knowledge, most of the genetic data is multi-purpose. Changing that will result in changing other aspects in ways we do not want and cannot expect. For example: ear eax. Do you prefer wet or dry? Well to change that gene is just one nucleotide! Just one! But -

Congenital diseases and disorders are far more complicated than just switching off a few genes, more problems always arise. One better option is gene therapy. Haemophilia A and B are treatable by gene therapy, as are several types of cancer. We don't need eugenics, we never have and never will.

At this point, our intro comp/first-year English course has been so heavily revised, it no longer includes a novel, or "extended reading" of any kind, no "specialized" or "historical" reading, mostly in-class assignments, no research essay...and we are still seeing a 40-50% rate of AI misconduct.

When I ask them: "What are you reading? What are you watching? What are you listening to?" Often, the answer is: nothing. Which has a direct effect on their over-use of prompts and AI, because they can't think of ideas, because they are literally not engaging with a single figurative thing.
