The mercantilism, which will continue until morale improves, is bad economics, bad history, & bad politics, & Joe Biden should never have listened to the awful advice he got from Jake Sullivan, Katherine Tai, & company these last four years:
Joe Biden got & followed incredibly bad advice from his most senior advisers on trade, who have built their views about it around lazy caricatures of history & policy that never actually existed, & incorrect beliefs that the economics & politics of trade have fundamentally changed after centuries.
