I couldn’t be more stoked (or grossed out) by the cover to my debut horror collection. Mitch_gen on IG was great to work with, and would you look at that illustration!

Release is set for 9.9.25! Ebook pre-orders are up with paperback and audiobook soon.
A skinned figure with arcane writing on their flesh holds a book with pages made of skin. Above is written Rain Corbyn’s Body of Work. Below is Short Body Horrors

It’s really hard to describe to people who are not artists how survival mode does *not* inspire creativity, as the myth would have us believe. It suppresses creativity as you try to limit every possible risk – and the opportunities that come with them.

It turns out building habits and stuff actually requires not being in survival mode, who knew?!
(Yeah yeah I did)

I thought the ‘89 Sematery movie did a fine job adapting the book but that was it, but Cronenberg went nuts with Christine in a way that made puberty and hormones a body horror aspect that contrasted the car well. The kid in the PS movie was v creepy though!
raincorbyn.bsky.social
If it had been books, I’d say Pet Semetary, but since you tagged film, Christine!

I try to focus this account so it's for my readers, but hey writers:

NEVER sign a contract where the publisher keeps your rights indefinitely. For short stories, there should be a point when you can sell reprints.

and NEVER sign your movie/TV/etc adaptation rights to a publisher. Those are yours.

I was wearing a Per Sematary shirt and a trashed woman outside a bar said

“Hey mister, I need to ask you something!”
“What’s up?”
She then sang the Ramones song. I joined in. She fell. That’s how I knew that was going to be my bar.

It fucked me up but admittedly the Catholic trauma did half of the work for it
