I just think it's a little cruel to insist they could do something if they tried harder. You have no idea how much effort and already put into it and still failed. Still doesn't justify deluding themselves into thinking the output of the plagiarism machine has any value though.

Can everyone learn to draw as well as you can? No. Can everyone express the things they want to express in any fashion? Also no. Which is fine. People can live perfectly happy lives not doing everything they want to do. People should be able to live happy lives regardless of their abilities.

Oren's Forge by Teagan Gavet is about predator and prey and it's good. But I think it can be argued that one of the reasons it works well is that it's not an allegory for human society. I see it as a speculative story about how an anthro society might develop from animals.

I don't remember the details of his complaints, I'm not sure he even went into that much detail, he just made it clear he thought the books were bad. But I remember that more than I remember anything from the books themselves.

When I read Redwall I was too young to really understand the nuances of the story to complain about them, but one memory seared into my mind is an adult that was in the car going to or from some boy scout event I went on when I was a child was complaining about how bad they were.

Yeah, but it was pretty funny watching that first film and realizing it was not a fantasy film like the subsequent film.

To be fair there are a lot of bad furry artists too, but to be honest I think that is why there are so many good ones. Furries more than any other group I know nurture artists at every skill level. You will get encouragement even if you aren't a good artist and that help more people get good.

Also I will agree that older societies didn't understand things in an engineering way but fantasy stories are not necessarily thematically about older societies even if stylistically they are inspired by them.
