Found out this weekend plecos can jump out of tanks. One of the kids let us know they can dry out and then revive upon re-wetting, after up to 30hrs out of water. Our fish was not Jesus. It did not resurrect on Easter. No sacrilegious events in our house. This week.

One of Musk’s buds runs IVF clinics?!? Feels like foreshadowing. We gonna get a spate of ppl in 10-20 yrs finding out their kids were actually made using Musk’s sperm without their knowledge or consent?

FathomVerse, a game where you drift through currents and identify pictures of oceanic creatures to help train an AI, has become my moment of zen

Part city is going out of business and dog costumes are 75% off. On a related note, here’s a glamour shot of our cat wearing a sombrero

Finished putting together a model from Ugears, a mechanical model co out of Ukraine whose products are 100% wooden. It’s a hurdy gurdy, an old musical instrument. It plays but the dominant sound is “wood squeaking” :). Still got it to play ode to joy recognizably tho!

Saw this leaf footed bug in September, not long after it had molted. Never seen one this rosy pink color. I’m sure if I’d come back later it would have darkened to brown; right time, right place :)

A wee baby cardinal fledgling, from September. I think its tiny crest looks like somebody glued a fake eyebrow on its forehead

Throwing it into the ether, any opinions on what type of birds these are? Reminiscent of hoopoes, but no crest. The cabinet was made in England around 1900. Maybe they’re just modified hoopoes? #birds

Fun bird fact: the onagadori is a Japanese heritage chicken breed, bred for its extremely long tail feathers which don’t molt. You can see this mounted specimen and dozens other cool chicken specimens at the food and ag museum in Tokyo

But hey, at least Science gave her credit (for picking out a rad shirt for her Nobel winning husband to wear). Also, she was first author! Not co.
