It is combo of North Korea, Third Teich, Mussolini's Italy & other dictatorships.
Fascism. No stomach for alternative narrative & no respect for people's privacy.

I am an extremely liberal & secular person.
Having said that, even pre-2014, there have been scores of instances of "bhoomi pujan" while launching projects of govt & govt. funded institutions. No one seems to have had any issues with it.
Post 2014, RSS/Modi have been playing politics with it.

It's all about resources & the money.

Modi sarkaar mantra
"Admit no mistake/sin, take no responsibility, no resignations, blame Pundit Nehru"
December 6, 2025 at 3:54 AM
Add Macaulay as the other one to blame.

Right.
December 3, 2025 at 3:49 AM
No surprise.
Tatas have always supported the dispensation in power.
December 3, 2025 at 3:47 AM
RRS & Hindutva fanatics at work.
700+ Islamic rule on the sub-continent has to be "avenged".
December 2, 2025 at 5:14 AM
Modi has to pay back his debt with Shylocking interest to Adani. No such thing as a free lunch.
December 2, 2025 at 5:09 AM
Unity in diversity. that is India & the European Union.
The RSS/BJP wants to destroy it in India & want one language, one religion, one culture, one blah, blah, blah.

Let our imagination wild.
If states/areas south of Vindhyas (Maharashtra, AP, Karnataka, Kerala, TN & Goa) was one country, it would be much more developed & prosperous with higher per capita income. These 6 account for 46% of the GDP.
Revenues from these states are being diverted to BIMARU states.

Depends upon one's leanings.
Right-wingers & loid-mouths have a better reach on Twitter, after Musk took over.
We have to wait & see how long it will take them to invade BlueSky, with their dirt-bags.

Yes, we can only guess & imagine - what could have been.
The point to note is that the European countries have realised that size & geography matters, hence the European Union - a "replica" of what we have - Union Govt & Individual states.
November 30, 2025 at 4:47 AM
Singapore is an exception, One of the reasons - its geography - a small island & its strategic location.
In the sub-continent, there would be many land-locked "countries & kingdoms" & that would be a disadvantage. I repeat, sharing of river waters would be a matter of conflicts.
November 30, 2025 at 4:37 AM
True. We will never know.. Like the constant present-day narrative of the sanghis - if Patel was the 1st PM instead of Nehru, then India would have been "Utopia" with US$ 15 trillion economy, blah, blah, blah.

Colonise other lands? How can the colonised be the colonisers?
November 29, 2025 at 5:26 AM
Interesting thought.
I doubt even that. But then no Gandhi, Nehru, Patel, Bose, Bhagat Singh, Kamaraj, Pawar, Roy, .......... either.

Result constant conflicts especially sharing of river waters & you name it.
Remember, there were 560+ princely states at the time of Independence.
The geology & the geography demands that the sub-continent be under one entity.
"jo huaa woh theek huaa". IMO, British rule did more good than harm

If British had not done what they did, the sub-continent would have had 15 to 20 or more countries - Travancore, Baroda, Ambar, Nizam, Mysore, Patiala, Udaipur, Kolhapur, etc. None would have had any influence on the world stage. Tweeny weeny nations.
November 29, 2025 at 4:51 AM
Not the current state since 2014. Hope Modi era is an aberration.
The only major inter-state disputes are sharing of river waters.

(shut down in 1939 due to efforts of Tagore & Gandhi) were exceptions.
Other benefits also accrued to India. A massive railway network for example.
World Warr II hastened the process to grant Independence to India.
One has to note that we parted as "friends".

Agree.
Not all British administrators in India were evil & cruel. Majority of them were reasonable, upright & fair, It must have also dawned on them that ruthlessness would not pay in the long run. They were here for the long run, so they imagined.
Jallianwala Baug & Cellular jail ...

@ambaazaad.bsky.social
We are like a European Union. A union of states with distinct languages, cultures, ethos, lifestyles.
E.g : Tamil Nadu & Haryana equivalent to say Belgium & Greece.
However, the RSS/BJP wish to undo this - one language, one religion, one curriculum, one blah, blah, blah.
