Politicians always go to the ban hammer as it has zero effect on the problem but does give police more reason to hassle people.
The Ombudsman for the Children’s Office has pushed back on the idea of a social media ban for under 16s. The measure had been floated by figures including the Tánaiste, following the introduction of a similar ban in Australia.

Meanwhile in Ireland we make vapes cost almost as much as cigarettes and Dr Stephanie O’Keeffe said the health executive can only recommend "safe and effective products" for quitting smoking and it has not yet been proven whether e-cigarettes are an effective aid.
