if only @senatorwong.bsky.social had any shred of credibility left after 24 months of 'grave concern' over the livestreamed genocide of Palestinians

All the arguments in the article by Frew are good. The real question is why bother with moral authority at all when you're rolling in quids? #auspol

If Labor wishes to reclaim its moral authority, it must break with the consultant paradigm: rebuild public governance, fund socially vital disciplines and restore universities as places of learning, not revenue streams. #auspol #universitiesAU

DFAT copping flack is entirely predictable. I recall Mamdouh Habib, being tortured in an Egyptian gaol after rendition by the US for that purpose, saying he recognized an Australian accent in the room while he was blindfolded. DFAT/ASIO/ASIS and sundry other spook outfits all have porous boundaries.

How the ALP outsourced the soul of higher education
For most of its history, the Australian Labor Party spoke of education as a public good, the light on the hill, a vision of collective progress through strong institutions, universal access, and the elevation of ordinary citizens.

The last Worker's Club in NSW to get poker machines was Kurri Kurri Worker's due to the staunch opposition of local communist and long standing national general secretary of the Australian Coal and Shale Employees' Federation, James Comerford. A local cultural powerhouse. Vote Socialist.

I'm expecting the kids to figure out how to bust it and then teach the rest of us how to get round whatever barriers there may be.

It's worn out, isn't it? Not getting any traction after 2 years of overwhelmingly peaceful community protests against genocide and pour complicity with it. And now no-one believes the cops, except maybe yet the Judge. As for not politicising the OH forecourt - jammed full the day Mandela spoke!

It might be that no-one is shooting back at ICE so as to avoid taking the blatant bait to the point of the desired conflict needed to provide a smokescreen of legitimacy for whatever repression follows. Well done so far for remarkably peaceful resistance. But there's a time for self defence too.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

Whoa. I bet the design is s'thing that can be morphed into a compound fairly quickly. Add that to the sub-base, North West Cape , the Marine base in Darwin, etc... we can say that WA is the sacrifice zone to US Imperial (carbon energy) recolonisation. No way those assets will ever be nationaized.

@albomp.bsky.social’s #FOI Amendment Bill deals one-sidedly with Govt concerns and completely ignores the serious problems users face accessing Govt info. Unsurprisingly, analysis of Senate submissions on the flawed Bill show it is friendless outside Govt. #auspol

In opposition, the prime minister talked a big game on transparency. It’s about time he walked the walk on open government.
