Was this a possible inspiration source for your creature?

The mother would collapse as the rival approaches and the screen would cut to black as the winds continue to howl as the audience has time to process everything as the credits roll.

It already used all her energy , she’d just collapse infront of the rival and be forced to mate. This would highlight the brutality of nature. Also there would be almost no music/sound except the howling winds, the footsteps of the animals, and the mother’s heavy breathing to show the desperation.

(I took the rival nanuqsaurus from how mother bears have to protect their cubs from male rival bears)

And out of a stroke of luck, one of the juveniles have succumbed to the cold, giving the mother to rush back to the den with the food. The viewers are lead to believe that the baby is still alive, but a sick turn of events play as a rival nanuqsaurus had found the den and took the easy kill.

Just as it seemed all hope was lost, a herd of monties pass by, forcing the desperate and weakened mother to take one of the animals down without getting killed in an instant. A desperate feeble attempt at a hunt ensues, each blow being weaker than the last, until it collapses out of exhaustion.

It’s one of the worst storms the prince creek formation has seen in decades, and a family of 2 nanuqsaurus, a mother and her hatchling, have to endure the raging blizzard. All her other offspring have already been taken by the cold. The hatchling is on the brink of death, being deprived of food.

I like you chose a nice yellow instead of the classic cassowary blue most paleo artists depict their animals as!

Please don’t.
