A strange dragon was spotted, briefly, ducking in & under thunderclouds. Eyewitnesses say it was almost disorienting to look at, the way it’s massive wings & crackling body wove through the sky. Efforts to verify its existence are underway.

I decided to develop my own version of #JurassicWorldRebirth ‘s mutant, with more obviously avian influences.

#Sciart #Paleoart The Jinju Formation (112~106 Ma) is a stratigraphic unit with the most abundant fossil record in Cretaceous Korea. Fossils including insects, spiders, isopods, fishes, plants, and trackways of extremely diverse vertebrates are known from this stratigraphic unit.

A hacker created an "infinite maze" trap for AI web crawlers

if the server detects a web crawler from an AI firm ...

... it spins up infinite pages filled with crap, so the crawler gets stuck scraping useless stuff

Fun @jasonkoebler.bsky.social piece: www.404media.co/email/7a39d9...
Developer Creates Infinite Maze That Traps AI Training Bots
"Nepenthes generates random links that always point back to itself - the crawler downloads those new links. Nepenthes happily just returns more and more lists of links pointing back to itself."

My poster on the life appearance of Megalosaurus, as presented at SVPCA 2024. A paper on this, and the history of M. reconstructions, is currently in the system and should (hopefully!) be published later this year. Posting this in the interim as a poss. useful #paleoart reference. #Sciart #dinosaur

"While poorly suited for most caravans, #Ankylosaurus excel at many things including beekeeping. Their slow walking speed means that most bees tend to ignore them as part of the landscape and the few who don't are unable to both them through their thick, armor plated skin."

For people interested in the #paleostream formation pieces I recommend the interactive map that @montanoceratops.bsky.social build! Also gives you an idea of what blind spots we still have and ideas what to cover next.

"River markets are the best places to acquire fresch caught fish directly from the anglers themselves, and are usually where you can get the best deals as well. Experienced traders know which vendors they can haggle down, and which are best to just buy at the asking price."

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

In 2020 I won the opportunity to create a series of Dinosauria coins for The Royal Mint & the Natural History Museum, London. There was Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, & here's my reconstruction of Hylaeosaurus.
