he never feels like enough of a failure. he's handsome and is a little offbeat during conversations but can hold down a normal conversation. which could be interesting if the point was that he's good at masking but it feels more like scorsese wanted him to be a relatable character

i wish i liked taxi driver more. my issue is that the main character is too competent. he bursts into the building a woman is working in and starts hitting on her but she just thinks it's cute and agrees to go out with him. i find that boring
