Green Party councillor for Ballyfermot-Drimnagh on Dublin City Council
We don't need new laws to deal with scramblers.
We need enforcement.

In Ballyfermot Library this morning for a launch of a report on internalised oppression. Travellers are told again and again, from a very young age, that they are less human than settled people, and start to believe it themselves...

The 80 bus route is changing on February 8th. O'Connell Street and College Green are where people want to go, and means the bus can use bus lanes and avoid traffic jams - that should improve reliability. The proposed merger with the 130 has been postponed to 2027.

Climate change causes more extreme weather events, like last night's storm. One way to make our cities more resilient is to depave - to replace concrete with green spaces that absorb water.

We have a real problem with road safety in Ireland.
If Sean Canney thinks it can be solved with high-vis vests, he is obviously incapable of doing his job.

The kids in Chapelizod wrote a letter to the Traffic department asking for safer routes to school...

We have a great opportunity to become leaders in renewable energy.
But our Minister for Climate is desperate to import fossil fuels instead.
He needs to get his priorities straight.

Great club run up to Three Rock this morning

There's a new playground coming to Drimnagh!
The Parks department have made lots of improvements to Dromard Green recently - new paths, benches, and trees. Next up is a playground!

Dublin City Council is leaving X
Time for the government to follow

Some good news for kids walking to school in Chapelizod. But there are still a lot of problems to fix here.

We planted a Tree of Hope in Walkinstown today. The Dublin 12 Mens Shed organised it, and Dublin City Council Parks department supplied the tree and helped plant it.

Some days, it's hard to believe we'll ever get it together to act on climate. But the international cooperation to phase out CFCs and protect the ozone layer shows it *can* be done.

I spoke to Elizabeth Hearst on the Dublin Today show, on the 6th of January, about a directly-elected mayor for Dublin.
The Citizens Assembly wanted one.
Why are Fianna Fail and Fine Gael so afraid of the idea?

Ireland has a real chance to take a lead in offshore renewable energy.
But this government is not interested - or maybe just incapable.

Active travel means healthier people, especially healthier kids. We should be doing everything we can to support it.
(Thanks to the D12BikeBus for letting me film them this cold morning!)

I was one of five Green councillors who brought a motion to stop #DublinCityCouncil using X.
It has been pushed to the Protocol committee later this month.
@feljin.ie and I will argue there that a line has been crossed, and it is (past) time to stop using that platform.

We can't bluff the climate - so who put Darragh O'Brien in charge of reducing emissions?

Twitter used to be known as the digital town square.
Now the town square is full of billboards showing CSAM and sexual harassment images, and the owner is shouting into a megaphone about the great replacement theory.
It's time to leave.

The public consultation last year threw up some interesting ideas, but it's pretty clear that people want a lido here. My colleague @janetphorner.bsky.social will be working to make that happen, but also to make sure the space is used while that project is being developed.

Lansdowne Valley park is nice, but small, and the closed loop is not great for safety.
The pitch and putt has been closed for years.
Put them together and you get a bigger park connecting Walkinstown to Inchicore.
I met the Active Travel team in 2025, and got them to bring this project forward.

It was great to see this new bench go in on Galtymore Road outside the shops.
Benches give you a chance to sit and chat with the people you meet. And for many people, it's a lot easier to walk to the shops, or to a park, when they know they'll get to take a break.
