Yea the four I’m counting were new for the film: "How Deep Is Your Love", "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever", and "If I Can't Have You". I wasn’t even thinking of “Jive Talkin” and “You Should Be Dancing” since they’re both prior hits. But yea, that’s ultimately 7 # 1’s with all priors included

Really wild the article expressly mentions Waiting to Exhale because that soundtrack had five top tens.

Saturday Night Fever alone had 4 songs go #1, 5 if you count “A Fifth of Beethoven” (though I believe that happened before the film came out and then it was included on the soundtrack after)

Problem is media is run by suits without a creative bone in their body. Need creative people in charge of creative projects in order to foster real creativity. Otherwise, you end up with endless rehashes and reboots.
