In Aotearoa NZ we need well funded, publicly funded, free media, moderated for truth and bias, untethered to the government of the day.
The national cost of having a free media should not be seen as a burden but a benefit to society, because without it no one knows what the truth is anymore.

I want to know why the media didn't pick up on the huge changes she made - the record $1.8 billion investment in water infrastructure, a district plan allowing for more affordable housing, 27km of cycleways and a drop in emissions. All are projects the council have been delaying since the mid 1990s

I suspect if they get a second term, our NZ water systems will be privatised too - already their new legislation is removing the activity of water management into separate (currently council controlled) organisations which could be easily privitised and sold off in the future

UK, Canada, Australia & 26 other countries have signed a joint statement calling for unimpeded humanitarian aid access to #Gaza. NZ has not signed it. This is beyond embarrassing. It’s utterly disgraceful. People are starving. Where is our govt’s moral compass?
