The right accumulates strange shibboleths. It's up there with emphasizing the wrong syllable of Kammala. It's ingroup/outgroup signalling, same way every sufficiently isolated religious community spawns jargon that doesn't match what you'd expect by dictionary definition alone.

It was a lucky 3AM Ebay find ages ago. It's like 2/3 of a pound, and it only cost me 10 bucks with shipping, and it's still one of the niftiest rocks I have. 😁

I grow increasingly grossed out by gambling advertising. The game has always been about convincing someone with barely a handful of pocket change that one weird trick could change their life, and now they've even pulled away from that with pitches about fun/habit forming/"social". It's just foul.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

It really is! I only really check in a few places, and that handful keeps shifting with various corporate nonsense. The balance between "easy for those not terminally online" and "bearable amount of evil behavior by owners" is wobbly as hell, and I keep losing connections as the wind blows.

My go-to for keeping my hands busy is making simple things like wire stick figures or pipe cleaner flowers. This kinda makes me want to dig out the half-finished mask I started in like 2020. 😅

If you wear your look, I'll wear my crown and cloak? I know that isn't an Event or anything, but at least you'd know someone else was also doing the thing. 😁 Then again, life is too short to be boring, and I've been known to wear one of my crowns to the grocery store.

Whoa, that's fantastic! Makes me wonder about whether it could apply for other chronic conditions with brainfog as a symptom, like a variety of autoimmune diseases. I know quite a few folks including myself who could use that kind of hope, brainfog is a beast.

I know there's a story about that one, I think it was a short I read in one of the 80s-era Hugo award omnibus bricks. Looking it up, the closest I can find is Gordon R. Dickson's "Dolphin's Way", but it's been a long time since I tripped across it.
