My colleagues & I have taken a huge gamble to set up @thenerve.news We’re trying to build a new independent publication from the ground up. Social media is our only distribution for now.

Sharing this article in your networks would make a huge difference. Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏

Buy "anything but American" is my motto these days.

(I love the energy of "Buy Canadian" but it's protectionist, and we need to be encouraging trade with our allies, who are also being targeted by Trump, like Mexico.)
The natural reflex to Trump’s aggression will be to mirror him with a “Canada First” or “Every Country For Itself” approach

Ultimately, we will all be stronger if democratic forces around the world unite and build new alliances to push back against Trump’s unchecked power

Hey Canada, as we watch the Trump admin erase info from public websites, remember when the Harper government muzzled scientists, shut research libraries and labs and tossed irreplaceable documents into dumpsters.

Please remember that here in Ottawa, the cops are getting 18 calls a DAY related to intimate partner violence.

Now think of all the women who are *not* reporting.

And yet, the Premier refuses to declare IPV an epidemic AND cancelled the expert roundtable on VAW

Too much fear and trauma is paralyzing! And some of us very much need to stay ready and able to fight or run. That means we post every goddam bit of joy or delight or wonder we can because that is what gives us strength

I know we’re (almost) all on the same page here, but a Bluesky without cute cats, science facts, and dumb jokes would be bad for everyone.
