Impossible to pick a favourite Redford performance or even directing project. But I've randomly pictured him running around NYC in those jeans and tweed herring bone jacket declaring "I just read books" at least once a week for decades now.

The Elementals starts as a droll southern gothic horror-comedy but builds to something genuinely terrifying. Some may bump on the slow burn pacing & some aspects haven’t aged well, but that ending is an all-timer. Squint hard enough & you might see shades of Beetlejuice (co-written by McDowell).
