People also need to stop being lazy and accept that there are other ways of doing things. I got into Linux BECAUSE it was different. For most people it is not really software availability that stops them. They would rather doom scroll than spend an hour figuring out a new DE.

I think for most people the issue is that they have too much music "liked"on their streaming services. Whether they listen to them all or not they see "owning" all of those albums as prohibitively expensive. Streaming services leverage this by creating illusions of ownership with "offline download".
