If you believe the right to vote is precious, you would demand that politicians EARN it instead of reflexively giving it away to the ‘lesser evil’. Being marginally better than the republicans on a handful of issues is not enough to earn my vote.

I think the entire Democratic Party deserves blame because they organize members like Kelly to engage in the 'rotating villain' strategy. If other party members are actually offended by Kelly's vote to confirm Peterson, why aren't they speaking out and questioning Kelly's belief in the party agenda?

Those of us who have been involved in activism for a long time have seen how cavalier behavior and disregard for safety protocols can lead to vey bad outcomes. Will’s attitude is ‘I haven’t been arrested (yet) so that proves operational security is unnecessary in EVERY circumstance.’

This shows your ignorance. YOU may not think they're doing anything wrong (& I agree) but those with the power to lock them in a cage have a very different interpretation of what is legal. Thus, activists should be deliberate about what info is recorded, who records it, how it will be stored, etc.

Of course there are risks, you dunderpate. My entire line of objection is against those who are taking UNNECESSARY risks, particularly without the knowledge or coordination of the other members of the group whose members are at risk, to satisfy their own ego.

I will give him credit for going out there and putting his body on the line. What I object to is him using his platform to ridicule the idea of operational safety within protest movements. That type of behavior is what gets people needlessly arrested (or worse).

The performative bravado of the stancil stans is going to get people arrested or even killed. Ms. Parks did not just one day unilaterally decide to get herself arrested. She was part of a movement that COLLECTIVELY decided on a strategy and built a solidarity movement and legal team to support them.

There is more than one type of operational security threat. Infiltration by the police is one. Journalists publishing information that is detrimental to the movement or puts members in legal jeopardy is another. The latter is why it is a security concern when journalists come into movement spaces.
