I’ve been in a creative funk lately, so I’m gonna try a few things to shake it off. One thing I’ve been looking at is running some solo RPG sessions. Plenty of people seem to like it. Some of the systems I’m wanting to try are Rolemaster, RuneQuest, HarnMaster, and Classic Traveller.

As I’ve been diving back into Rolemaster 2e over the last few days, I’ve been quickly reminded how brilliant this RPG is. PC development is the most complex part. At the table, it’s pretty smooth and straightforward. Basic math skills and occasionally using amazing charts are needed. #Rolemaster

Cracking open one of my Rolemaster 2e books yesterday has rekindled the passion. So naturally I had to bust out my box set and all the extra books I have, rereading and dreaming of running a campaign of RM2. ⚔️ #Rolemaster #ttrpg

The wilds to the north of Hawkmoor are mapped! Aside from one coastal barbarian trading town, nothing will be labeled in this region since no imperial expeditions ever ventured here. I’ve now got the western half of the greater Hawkmoor region drawn. Next will be the eastern half. #DnD #OSR #ttrpg

“Your OD&D will vary.” That’s good and in the spirit of the original game. My foundation is the original 3 books. Then I use aspects of the OD&D Supplements, Holmes Basic, Judges Guild, Strategic Review, and Dragon. I use the AD&D Monster Manual. I also add some of my own stuff to it and experiment.

After 2 years of designing and playtesting, book 1 (the “PHB”) of my OSR game “Falenburg” is done. Next up is finalizing book 2 (the “DMG”) which includes compiling a few years of playtest notes, thoughts, random tables, etc. A lot of book 2 is already done. #OSR #DnD #ttrpg

I’m bummed I missed out on GameHoleCon due to illness. Next Cons won’t be until spring, when I’m planning on attending GaryCon and DaveCon. Until then we’ll be gaming through the fall and the long, cold Wisconsin winter.

This evening’s reading is Empire of the Petal Throne. After speaking a lot with Victor from the Tékumel Foundation at ArneCon last weekend (and getting some great tips), I’m motivated to want to get the system and especially the setting down enough to run some sessions with EPT. #DnD #OSR #ttrpg

I’m using @dysonlogos.bsky.social B/X character sheets for my OD&D campaigns. It’s not a 100% matchup, but 99.9% and the slight differences are negligible. I just find it visually extremely appealing and the players are able to put all important info on a page with room to spare. #DnD #OSR #ttrpg
