I play RQ2, which has great random encounter tables and reaction tables.

I really like his stuff. I don’t need any specific solo rules. I do like procedures for things and random tables, so those games work for those aspects.

It a lot of fun. PC development is very involved with a lot of options and nobody is barred from most things (a fighter could learn magic and a wizard could learn to use a sword). The charts actually help the game run smoothly with very narrative combat elements (thanks to the chart descriptions).

It was so much fun, we played it 2 days in a row. Day 1: me vs my son. Day 2: me vs my son & daughter. I won once and lost once as the Free Peoples.

That’s awesome! Yeah it only needs very slight tweaks to be 100% OD&D. Once again…it’s one of the beautiful things of classic D&D. You can use various aspects of the game from 1974-1997 and it tends to work.
