I love ferrets, they're amazing!
Not if Orban decides to vote make himself president for life.

It's not useless data at all, then. That means that Zacks lead can grow even further lol.

If he's a "good man" is up for debate, IMO. I think most people know by now that he's a terrible leader when it comes to politics, but I think a lot of people tend to forget he's an Assadist when it comes to arbitrelily labeling him as a "good" or "bad" person.
December 18, 2025 at 11:19 PM
Why would you ever admire an Assadist? Like yeah he's a bigwig when it comes to leftism in British politics, but his leadership of Labour and of his own party is just... a massive failure. I can't understand how someone can still admire him.

Maybe Ukraine can serve as a model for reforming individual EU countries? Via. cash incentives? That'd probably speed up a ton of democratization/anti-corrultion efforts in Eastern Europe at a bare minimum.
December 18, 2025 at 11:12 PM
I, for one, am glad those milestones exist. It's more incentive to reform rather than to fall back to bad habits (like trying to gut anti-corrultion agencies because they were investigating the president's friends)

I think it's hypocritical, though. Other EU members didn't have this scrutiny.
December 18, 2025 at 11:11 PM
I'm glad it's months, not years, actually. AFAIK Ukraine needs those funds in ~6 months tops, so those funds will come right on time it seems.
December 18, 2025 at 11:00 PM
If that's the case, I can bet other EU states will join in as well. It's an inertia thing - once the big members join, everyone else usually follow suit.

Even better!

FPV drone specialist or HIMARS specialist? :D

Then again, "other countries are greedy, hence we'll also be greedy!" is not how you set a global example. The Overton window has to shift one way and another, and Belgium would be better off to not protect war criminals' funds when the window actually shifts.
December 18, 2025 at 9:17 PM
I mean, EU countries have agreed (or at least offered) to give at least a joint safety net for Belgium in case the funds go to shit. That's pretty much the joint borrowing scheme, just without the borrowing part. Which is a bit better, as I'm sure not even Belgium wants to borrow money.
December 18, 2025 at 9:16 PM
I'm not sure "But Belgium won't get enough tax revenue if we did this!" matters when it comes to existential wars like this one.

Also, Russians might sue anyways, and that money might just go away without being used for anything.
December 18, 2025 at 9:14 PM
No no no no, you forgot one crucial detail - the Americans don't JUST want for the EU to not seize Russian funds - they also want for the EU to give away 50% of those funds to the U.S., as per the new Trump "peace deal".

So it's actually much worse than what you're presenting. No need to thank me!
December 18, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Also, let's not pretend like Belgium is some sort of poor victim in all of this - your piggy bank-state does not want to give the money because you can't TAX it anymore. Your PM is not willing to give it up because it means one less tax revenue source, which is kind of greedy, considering the WAR.
December 18, 2025 at 8:10 PM
So uh, we did offer Belgium help. The EU offered that all EU member states essentially back the frozen assets in wealth proportional to the size of their economies. And your stupid fucking PM said "no, that's not enough!"

I'll do you one better: what are the "risks" your PM kreps talking about? He's always very vague about what they are, so I'd like to hesr from you, what you thunk the risks are, before I can (attempt) to disprove some of those "risks"
December 18, 2025 at 7:06 PM
That is bullshit - they have been offered both legal support and joint risk. It's just a stalling/denying tactic.
December 18, 2025 at 5:59 PM
Never underestimate the Russians when it comes to snatching failure our of the jaws of success, dude.

What remains of the mighty Black Sea Fleet has essentially surrendered the Black Sea, as it is terrified of Sea Babies and has literally nowhere left to run from them.

Absolutely staggering achievement by Ukraine. And a complete humiliation for Russia.

I think the dynamic is a bit different this time. With NATO, that is.

Also, still, it might not be a 99/1 majority or something, but it's still going to be a majority. It's not like Russia isn't going to bomb Berlin or something - that's one of the first things they'll do.
