85 years ago, Charlie Chaplin delivered his famous speech at the end of his first film with dialogue - The Great Dictator.

He spoke these timeless words as Nazis rose to power, and the drums of war beat in Europe, echoing across the world.

As relevant, and necessary to hear, today as ever

Russia are relishing in this now.

But this year, Ukrainians aren't going to be the only ones spending another winter with their energy grid being bombed relentlessly.

This year, Ukraine hits back. Zelenskyy warned Russia of this openly.

When Russia cries and plays victim, remember all of this:

During these years of war, I saw heroism, valor, kindness and many other qualities not only in Ukrainians, but also in many people around the world who support Ukraine, who help Ukraine, who worry about Ukraine. And who now carry a piece of 🇺🇦 within them, even if they were born in another country.

More than any, they'll always have my respect ✊

They came from all walks of life to protect family, homes, friends, neighbours, country.

They ended up defending free Europe - they've bled for it.

What would we all face in 2025 if Kyiv fell back in 2022?

They're the reason that's a hypothetical.

When Putin talks to a Russians he consistently says that they invade Ukraine to destroy the state and nation and correct the path of history. NATO and similar framings are just for the useful foreigners.

Pu spells out Ru's imperialist motivations for the war. He calls the conquest a long-held dream and historical destiny.

He beclowns those who insist NATO expansion caused the war. Let's see if anyone from the Mearsheimer fan club admits the claim has been falsified.

He says, leering at the Insurrection Act of 1807, hungrily drooling down his orange chins.

Trump: "Portland, I mean -- every time I look at that place it's burning down. There are fires all over the place. When a store -- there are very few of them left -- but when a store owner rebuilds a store they build it out of plywood. They don't put up storefronts anymore. They just put wood up."

This is the really dangerous stuff honestly.

Hollowing out the state wholesale - just like Erdogan, Orban, Putin, and all the other authoritarian wankers.

They'll go too far and it'll slow them for a time. Then they'll fill the necessary gaps with nutty loyalists screened through purity testing.

Local authorities are not responding to questions of whether Portland will be able survive the night.

I am glad that in this world there are still many bright, kind people who have not sold their honor and conscience, and who will continue to do good and are ready to fight for justice. As long as there are such people, this world still has a chance to exist.

I COULD'VE TAKEN IT FROM HER, SHE HAD TINY ARMS, BUT I DIDN'T SINCE I WAS SO HAPPY THAT ME, DONALD J. TRUMP, STOPPED ALL THE WARS. I SAVED ALL THE "LIVES", UNLIKE BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, WHO DID NOTHING, AND THE CORRUPT "NOBEL COMMITTEE" KNOWS THEY SHOULD'VE GIVEN IT TO ME, PRESIDENT TRUMP, ANYWAY...

“I have been helping her along the way, they need a lot of help.

Can't verify, but ties up with things I've heard.

In Tatarstan for example, Russia's signup bonus apparently dropped from $38k ish to less than $10k.

Avg. wage there is $10k.

So it's the difference between being offered 4 years vs 1 year of salary. A huge deal when asking people to become "meat".

When you're trying to use the US military against US cities and American citizens, the smartest thing to do is stop paying them as well as asking them to violate their oaths.

This is Art of the Deal 101.
