NEW: Oxfam's global inequality report🧵

Billionaires gained $2 trillion in 2024, 3x the rate of '23.

At this pace we expect 5 trillionaires in a decade. While billions live in poverty.

We dive deep on colonialism, inheritance & the bold action we need: oxf.am/TakersNotMak...

Latina workers lose about $1.2 million over the course of a 40-year career due to the wage gap.

This isn’t equity—it’s injustice. Latinas deserve fair pay now. #LatinaEqualPay

Oxfam mourns our partner colleague Tasneem (27), killed with her 2 young children in an Israeli airstrike in #Gaza. Partner clinics providing life-saving care have also been destroyed. Aid workers must never be targets.

Looking for the best states to work in? These are the top 5 states for workers!

Oxfam’s research has found these states all have the country’s strongest minimum wages, paid leave, fair schedules, and protected rights to organize. Did your state make the top 5?

Countries have started negotiating a new tax treaty

The US? Not in the room

Trump's unilateralism hurts ordinary people in the US and (no surprise) helps profitable corps & wealthy individuals who pay too little in tax

My take from negotiations👇 politicsofpoverty.oxfamamerica.org/the-most-hop...

REACTION: The #FFD4 showed the challenges remaining to meet the Sustainable Development Goals - but also the power of international cooperation.

Seville showed that considerable challenges remain to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals. But it also paved the way for governments to build more coalitions to tax the super-rich and finance care, and put equality, democracy and sustainability at the core of their efforts. So grateful to connect with global movements demanding justice at #FFD4.

A real source of hope. As we fight US efforts to take away families' food and healthcare to give billionaires tax breaks, and tank multilateralism to pad the profits of corporations.

La lucha continua✊

Today, rather than investing in workers and families, Senate Republicans passed a destructive tax bill that would leave millions hungry and without healthcare.

Lawmakers need to ask themselves: how many people are you willing to harm to pad the pockets of billionaires?

As #FFD4 approaches, we call for new strategic alliances to address inequality.

For taxing the super-rich to pay for public services & climate action (9 out of 10 support it globally!).

For reforms to the international financial architecture & more. 👉 oxf.am/ffd-brief-2025

We look at the misguided private finance takeover of development that's enriched wealthy investors but led to exclusion, poverty & exploitation

It's time to retire what @danielagabor.bsky.social calls the Wall Street Consensus. A public-first approach is need www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/0...

As Trump and Republicans in Congress push billionaire tax handouts, we had to ask:

Are the billionaires doing okay??🤔

We crunched the numbers and found out—surprise, surprise—they're doing great!👇

NEW from @oxfamamerica.bsky.social:

🔹The wealth of the 10 richest US billionaires increased by $365 billion in the past year.

🔹A modest tax on their fortunes would cover 1 year of food assistance for 22.5 million ppl.

🔹It would take 10 typical workers 726,000 yrs to make that much.

When Massachusetts residents passed a new tax on income over $1 million in 2022, critics claimed it would drive the wealthy away.

Instead, IPS scholar @ocampomar.bsky.social found that the state now has MORE millionaires — and an extra $2.46 billion raised by the tax.
