And, hey, I get it.
And I remember my former boss East River having a lil chip on his shoulder about it & kinda suspecting Black Hills people were nuts.
And he was probably right, but while I was a prairie girl for a stint, at ❤️ I’m a mountain girl, & my latent mountain persona has re-emerged 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m just trying to figure out which can this person thinks we ought to be using if it’s not the one with our address on it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have to giggle a little that the sanitation workers inadvertently started a neighborhood war by changing the order of the trash carts. 😏
December 3, 2025 at 3:59 AM
No kidding! If I knew who was leaving the notes, I’d move their trash cart into that end spot where ours ended up.
They seem to be stuck on the idea that the can in that spot is theirs no matter what address is on the lid 🤦🏼‍♀️
Nevermind that none of the cans are anchored in place. So weird

SO. I type up a note explaining the can is for our address, which is marked ON THE CART.
And they should feel free to move THEIR cart into that spot & STOP USING OURS.
Taped it on top.
And I ripped their note off & tossed it in with the box that’d been removed.
God knows what happens next 🤯

And I dump our trash. In our can. Including a glossy, non-recyclable box.
TODAY, the PO’d note is moved—taped to the top of the can COVERING our address #. And the box is on the ground, outside the can 🤷🏼‍♀️
More (not ours) trash in the can

HIGH-larious PO’d note on front of our can yesterday, “If I’m not your mother, you better not dump trash in here!” With frowny face.
So, I take my purse Sharpie & note that yes, ppl shouldn’t be dumping trash in someone else’s can. AND THIS CAN is for (our address on top of can)

I somehow have completely missed out on the existence of this bit of delish for fifty years.

Omg! Yes, I’ve had an ice buildup situation that knocked out my furnace (East River days). But that was an easy fix once I figured it out.
It’s hard to explain to most folks, but wood-fired winters are a LOT of work!

Great idea!
What did you use for legs?
Is the top glass or plexi?
Is it fixed on or removable?
We have one that used to hang on a wall space that’s gone, and now I fear it will live on top of the dryer til the end of time if I don’t figure something out. 😔

This is the way

Great work!!! I’m sure it will be much appreciated and savored

Chicken chili verde w/ white beans, (2) 13” wheels sour cream cornbread (leftovers for breakfast or late-night snacking), a hotel pan of apple cake, and (only!) half of this giant grabbed-from-a-giveaway autumn display Jarrahdale squash, roasted, because it is BIG.
November 27, 2025 at 3:59 AM
Nice work!
I have a serious want of those deep hotel pans.
