A Black-throated Green Warbler (sans black throat - female or immature) perches on some vines. A Common Yellowthroat poses nicely for the camera in their little bandit mask. A Northern Parula sits still briefly, showing off their lovely green-yellow plumage. A Nashville Warbler seems to be staring right at me from that eye with the impeccable white eye ring.

The other day I shared a photo of an adult swooping through my shot with a dinner delivery. This was the aftermath! One chick snagged the pigeon and made their way to this tree and the other two chicks followed suit, hoping to snag a few bites. #nature #wildlife #birds #hawks #redtailedhawks

Don’t worry, after a few gulps and some readjustment, it went down just fine! While hawks typically tear their prey up and eat in smaller chunks, it’s not uncommon to scarf a meal especially when surrounded by hungry siblings. A foot is also probably pretty difficult to tear apart…

All three of the red-tailed hawk chicks have fledged and are doing well! Expect a ton of photos of hawks in the coming weeks/months. Fun fact: it was a chick from this nest in 2020 who was the catalyst for my love of hawks and eventually all birds!

I was lucky enough to watch one of the three red-tailed hawk chicks fledge yesterday! I went out in the evening to check on them and it appears a second has also fledged, but could only find one (and the one in the nest). 99% of what I photograph now will be these guys! #birds #hawks #redtailedhawks

Look at this fancy juvenile starling I happened upon! Normally their tail would be the same grey-brown that their body is, but this one happened to have a few striking white tail feathers.

Their tails are probably also unique from one another, but I won’t get the best look at those until they fledge. My resident red-tailed hawks have a whopping THREE chicks this year! After losing their 2 chicks last year, I am so overjoyed for them. I’m so excited for fledge. I’ve typically just had 1 chick to follow around, so 3 will be a lot!

I was watching a pair of gray catbirds eat berries when I noticed this one seems to be missing an eye! Despite this, the bird seemed to be doing fine: foraging, flying, and I assume the other catbird was their mate. #nature #wildlife #bird #catbird #graycatbird
