The chicks slept on the nestbox. Chick 1 left around 4am, she didn't jump straight onto the wall. Chick 2 left 40 minutes later, his landing wasn't as good as yesterday's but he recovered well enough.
They have been pretty active since but no fledging yet.

FledgeWatch Coda: Tues. a thunderstorm rolled through late afternoon. The 3 fledglings sheltered in the nest. When the cleared & the air was crisp fresh, 1 by 1 they lofted from the nest edge, dipped low, & swooped into the trees toward the encouraging chirps of their parents.
FledgeWatch: The Final Update 🪶
The nestlings spent last evening & today swooping clumsily around the yard. They slept in the nest overnight but I won't be surprised if they don't return tonight. First empty nest in a month-plus, and the last one this season. 🥹

FledgeWatch update: Launch appears imminent; quickly peeked around far corner of garage w/binox & saw one nestling standing fully on the edge of the nest. Parents air-hover in front of nest, to rooftop, swoop to tree, demonstrating the technique and chirping encouragement. 🪶🌿💚
I think today might be the day! Apologies for the awful photo quality, but Mom and Dad are posting up on the roof edge about 3 ft from the nest, and in a birch tree about 15 ft away. There's much peeping back and forth as they encourage the babies to take the leap. 🪶🦉🌿💚

All is good so far today. Both have done good flights. Chick 2/Zag has even been chasing Mum and Dad. The first time he quickly thought it was too far but he went far away the second time, and managed to return safely. 😊

Parents Jackie And Shadow will continue to teach them the ropes for a long period. The family dynamics of eagles are strong up until the eaglets are fully independent. Sometimes they fly over the nest and visit as you will see with Eagle Spirit. 🦅🌲

The chicks had breakfast from Azina around 10:45am but now they've discovered the nest box roof they don't want to leave it... They've spent most of the morning on it.
