I stream on Twitch sometimes, make YouTube videos and TikToks rarely. I also dabble in game development and am a self-proclaimed armchair meteorologist. Humble partner.
I'm currently working on an inventory system for my project and trying to get as much done as I can today since I'm back to work tomorrow after a week hiatus. I've enjoyed my time away from the daily grind... I just wish I could do game dev full-time and not have to worry about working retail. 😅

Happy New Year!

While everyone else is coming up with different resolutions, I'm still going to be flying by the seat of my pants in this chaotic soup we call life.

Though, I do wanna save up at least $15,000 this year. And publish a game. AND make it to 2027 a better person than I started 2026.

Instead of working on an inventory system for my project, I decided to add a very crudely functioning ball you can kick around the room.

This is likely the end of my productivity as I'll likely be stuck kicking this ball around instead of working on anything else. 👀

I thought up a game idea while walking the dog, so after I came back inside I told my significant other the idea and asked what she thought of it. Apparently my idea was depressing, so I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. 🫠

Here's a video of tonight's progress. I'm not 100% satisfied with the way text & icon are shown above the items. I'm also confused about my player's movement at the end -- I might have to divert and try to figure the movement issue next, or should I just continue adding features?

I've been breaking up my game dev into spurts: this morning I added a check to see if you're facing an object to interact with it, and tonight I will add a UI element to show what you're interacting with. It might be a slow process, but it's keeping me productive and consistent.

I'm reaching the point where I try to make everything "perfect" instead of working on the core idea of my project... which, there is no true idea at the moment, but is it necessary to complicate it with an advanced FSM when I barely have any actions for the player to do yet?

A progress update for my current "idealess" Godot project. I have a somewhat working scene loader, a 3D player controller and third-person camera implemented. I'm using JetBrains Rider for coding as well, though I'm still not sure it's a necessary addition to my workflow.

I'm back on making a third person controller camera and controller -- something I've done about 3 times in the past two years now. 🫠

And as per usual, I'm struggling. 🤣 Camera rotations are hard, at least for me.

Well I guess GitHub is down, so version control ain't on the menu just yet for this project since I can't download the Godot Git Plugin... 🤷‍♂️

Time to figure something else out.

I listen to so many game dev videos on the way home from work that it has gotten me so off the course of what I want to make that I don't even know what to do when I open Godot...

I've got a lot of projects and ideas... do I go with one of those or come up with something else? 😭

I finally opened up the laptop and figured out the issue with it: a tiny rolled piece of plastic was stuck underneath one of the fans, causing it to get stuck and not spin which created loud noises. It is fixed, and now I can finally get back into some game development!

I AM EXCITED!

Guess what game I just restarted for the 17th time while waiting for the new one to release! 😭

We recently moved into an old shop that isn't fully converted to a full fledged living space yet. I did get internet ran out here and we do have heat, but no hot water, shower, or anything of that nature. It's nice to be here, though -- it's just sooner than I wanted to be out here.

Tonight's aurora borealis over northern Indiana has been spectacular. These past couple of years have been amazing for sky watching between the comets and auroras.

Here soon, I might actually be able to resurrect my old desktop... if that's the case, game dev and MAYBE YouTube or Twitch is back on the menu for me. 🙃

I can't deny I'm actually pretty excited at the prospects. I'm tired of having all these ideas and no outlet.

It's about that time of year where I want to do some game dev again, but I still haven't fixed the laptop haha.

In other news, the grass isn't green because it's so dry here in Indiana.

I don't want to get excited for Colts football this year, but this game is making me excited for Colts football this year. 🤔

Hey Bluesky! 👋 It's been a minute since I've been on here!

Turning off non-essential notifications on my phone and hiding various social apps behind multiple steps actually does work to keep you from doom scrolling. I've been more productive this past month or so than I have in years. 😂

I found a beautiful house that is pretty much everything I've ever wanted in my own place... now I must will my way into getting the money for it come the day of the auction. 😭

After about 20 attempts, I've finally got a working prototype coded entirely through prompts given to Gemini CLI. Depending on feedback I get from testing, I will be rewriting this myself. It's not perfect, but still nice to have a working prototype of a concept within a day. #gamedev #ai

I'm really trying to embrace Gemini CLI for programming, but it continuously gets stuck on things that should be simple (such as limiting something to 18) and telling me it fixes it with its repeated code rewrites but it never works. I want to jump in and fix it myself because it's so frustrating. 😂

I'm letting Gemini AI do something I know how to properly do and trying to explain to it how to do it, but it's just not getting it right. Very frustrating to deal with but still rather intriguing to watch it slowly figure things out while simultaneously breaking everything else.

There's a profound richness in simply being here, watching the world unfold. Calm appreciation clears the noise, making your true path brilliantly clear. Stop chasing; start creating. Making things happen begins by seeing what's around you, then building from that clarity. #mindset #inspiration

I've decided to play around with AI again here lately, mostly with Gemini CLI. It's amusing how much confidence it exudes when telling you for the 6th time it fixed an issue with its execution of the prompt only for it to still have the same exact issue. 😭 It's almost like I'm at work.
