Instead of working on an inventory system for my project, I decided to add a very crudely functioning ball you can kick around the room.

This is likely the end of my productivity as I'll likely be stuck kicking this ball around instead of working on anything else. 👀

Here's a video of tonight's progress. I'm not 100% satisfied with the way text & icon are shown above the items. I'm also confused about my player's movement at the end -- I might have to divert and try to figure the movement issue next, or should I just continue adding features?

A progress update for my current "idealess" Godot project. I have a somewhat working scene loader, a 3D player controller and third-person camera implemented. I'm using JetBrains Rider for coding as well, though I'm still not sure it's a necessary addition to my workflow.

I finally opened up the laptop and figured out the issue with it: a tiny rolled piece of plastic was stuck underneath one of the fans, causing it to get stuck and not spin which created loud noises. It is fixed, and now I can finally get back into some game development!

I AM EXCITED!

Tonight's aurora borealis over northern Indiana has been spectacular. These past couple of years have been amazing for sky watching between the comets and auroras.

After about 20 attempts, I've finally got a working prototype coded entirely through prompts given to Gemini CLI. Depending on feedback I get from testing, I will be rewriting this myself. It's not perfect, but still nice to have a working prototype of a concept within a day. #gamedev #ai

I'm trying to turn my phone into less of a time waster and more into a platform that will keep me productive. So far my attempts haven't worked, but I'm trying something new this time around.

I watched an early screening of Superman last night. It's not the Superman people have grown accustomed to at the cinema, but it's the Superman we need: it's all about kindness and humanity... I don't understand how any of what was portrayed is "woke," but I guess I don't get that terminology.

Oh wow. $80 USD for Mario Kart World, and $450 for the Switch 2 by itself. 🙃 I'm okay with the console price, but the game prices are waaaaay out of range compared to others right now.

It's been a few months, but I'm going to use the free time I have this morning to work on my Godot project! I... I just don't know what I was doing, and reading the code again is like reading ancient glyphs from a time long forgotten. Send help.

I finally picked this up from my (somewhat) local Books-a-Million today! I've been wanting to read these books for quite some time but never took the plunge. Maybe instead of focusing so much on trying to learn, I should find escape in Middle Earth?

I figured I'd share with y'all what I finally finished: my third-person character controller and camera! It's functioning how I want it to after about an hour and a half of working on it today. I definitely feel very accomplished and excited to move on to the next functionality!

I know Wednesday I said I made a Trello board for my game, but I've decided to switch to Notion. I've played with Notion before and I think I'll benefit from not only the Kanban boards, but also being able to document everything and better keep track of development and ideas.

I was only able to work on my game for approx. 16 minutes this morning... but in that time, I did get my third-person camera working on a stationary object! 😬 I'll try to post a GIF or video of it in motion later on.

Next up: player controller (aka movement)!

I've managed to "work" on my game before I leave for work this morning. I didn't get up as early as I wanted to this morning but at least it's some progress!

I'm currently rewriting my camera controller script from another project so I can refresh myself on how it works.

Welp, after an hour of work I pretty much accomplished very little aside from getting a test scene (a cube for ground) and a player object/default controller in. I almost had camera functionality working, but I destroyed the progress I had because I wanted it to be perfect. 🤷‍♂️ #gamedev #indiedev
