I can’t think of a better way to honor Jimmy Carter than donating to Habitat for Humanity. He and Rosalynn first began volunteering with the nonprofit in 1984 — 3 years after leaving the White House. They volunteered every year until 2020, eventually helping to build and repair 4,390 Habitat homes.

The kicker here is so important: "Veterans were the lone group among whom homelessness declined last year, the report found. That continues a long-term trend driven by bipartisan support for services and housing..." There are strategies for fixing this problem that have shown success.
Breaking News: Homelessness in the U.S. hit a record level in 2024, driven by a surge in migrants, a housing crisis and an end to pandemic-era measures. nyti.ms/3PdWGAl

I just think all borders are both fake and also pretend, thus the idea of illegal immigration of our species on this one small planet we all must share is a mortal and evil crime against us, so no I will not be dunking on my ideological enemies by saying I think they should be deported

New in PN: The press is ignoring the real Liz Cheney scandal

"These stories don't communicate the fact that Cheney didn’t commit an actual crime and this is all meritless. The Times plays up Trump’s strongman image, as if he’s the buff antagonist in a movie. This gives Trump exactly what he wants."

Now that we've discovered the kind of man Trump WANTED to be Attorney General, maybe we had better insist on similarly invasive investigations of his other nominees to make sure they at least ask the age of the high school juniors they pay for sex.

It’s tempting to be cynical in the age of Trump, but, as Stephen Beshloss writes, “cynicism and resignation are exactly what … the Trump sycophants, the pillagers and plunderers who despise our system of self-governance are counting on.” We the people own our democracy and must stay engaged.
Say No to Cynicism
We can endure and overcome the coming onslaught, but that requires not being overwhelmed or seduced by defeatism

We're reporting about an all-out assault on the US Postal Service this week. A recap:

1- Trump & GOP talk about revoking money for new USPS trucks
2- I scoop that the truck project is having major problems
3- Another scoop: Trump floats privatizing USPS

🧵 Let's thread this out...
News here —

Trump behind closed doors has talked about privatizing the Postal Service, per sources, citing financial losses.

How he’d do it is unclear, but Trump tried to leverage USPS finances to take control of the agency in his first terms.
