The book of his that I still reread, is his sadly far-too-short book Memories of the Future, which is about things he remembers from being on TNG, in order of episodes that were made.

I’m not surprised that he has not continued that series. He’s gone onto better things.

During those years, I was the one that was routinely attacked; I always had new bruises.

But professionals do not have any understanding or appropriate advice when an adolescent is being violent towards their parents. It is more than a decade later and I hope this has changed.

It’s clear that Bluesky is messing up the threading on this… But the other thing is that my kid was violent when they were in psychosis, and it was several years before the doctors believed me about happening at home eventually, I was able to convince them for appropriate medicine

However, having a science fiction point of view helped me understand what is quite literally the truth: when someone is in psychosis, it is a completely different personality that is being expressed. It is not the person you know.

We all managed to get through many years of constant emergencies due to that condition, and the key question is now doing well in college. They will need to be on clozapine the rest of their life because they have a very severe case.

…and then I had challenges because one of my kids developed early onset schizophrenia at 10.
Mental health professionals who are not closely affiliated with educational institutions somehow think that adolescence can’t get these level of brain diseases, but the research proves them wrong.
