I think the horsepower chasing is uniquely an issue for the luxury market - their buyers are tasteless mouthbreathers deciding on stats so they brag to their friends at the country club.

Over powerful, over complex and over expensive cars will go the same way as their two wheeled counterparts. They will become irrelevant one trick ponies.
