I just rewatched the doc "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" last night. He was not *directly* political, no, but his values clearly align with the current center/left, not the current administration and gop of Congress. If you can't see that, it's because you choose not to.

No, my tax dollars *should* fund NASA science and NIH medical research labs, keep NCAR and NOAA and the NWS running at full staff, and expand NPR and PBS broadcasting for rural communities. Also, museums, hospitals, SNAP and Medicaid benefits. National Parks and historic sites. I could go on and on.

Together, we can defeat the forces that would rip apart our democracy and install a white nationalist autocracy in place of our beloved Republic. Now is a time of monsters, but it is also a time for heroes to vanquish them.

I also salute the people of that city and the state of Minnesota for standing tall in the face of fascism and for showing the rest of us how it’s done.

As the video notes, what we would now consider to be extremely cold was pretty average, decades ago – but climate change is also affecting the intensity and frequency of the storms that pull this cold air down from the Arctic. Which is why I call this “Global Weirding”!
