Probably the most clever thing I could do is check the color of the diffuse texture and then apply certain lighting based on the hue or value.
Which seems to work fairly well to mask rim lighting to only Bright Or dark areas, for example without a separate texture

I'll try that.
I was indeed, using multiple windows. So I could look at shaders on another monitor.
Downgrading to Godot 4.2 seemed to prevent crashing but I probably need to test more. To see if that's actually a regression.

Complaining about languages and not understanding transpilers is missing the bigger issue with browsers which is that their rendering backends and audio backends are sandboxed and have poor latency /performance.
Not the developer experience.

We have webgl And WebGPU to replace CSS.
If you want to use CSS for layout, and render it visually with webgl. You can do that too.
...And there's webassembly.
Anything that can't be loaded in wasm there's transpilers for that.
Since JavaScript is a compile Target as well.

almost every desktop environment uses .desktop files to launch apps graphically,

most stuff can run from your home directory, relative to ~/
When in doubt,
`which program-name` to find out where it is.
If needed, add folders to your PATH variable in ~/.bashrc

The whole reason I started using godot, (since I'm more of a library/framework person)
Is that webxr isn't supported by any browsers on desktop Linux currently, And stereokit didn't work/ had texture errors..
But in general wireless VR on Linux is quite good now.

Why do they need government bailouts all the time?
Aren't businesses supposed to be profitable?

Building and testing works fine.
But I kept running into things hovering over something in the UI in the editor itself would freeze.

Sorry I could have just read that.
But is it just me or is 4.5 less stable?

I'm guessing this relies on a specific version of Godot or at least a certain minimum version.
4.5 seemed unstable. It was crashing a lot.
At least with the official Open XR extensions and the template project for that, So I'm using 4.2 now.. but I'm sure that's a foot gun

the only long term relationship i was in basically deteriorated and ended because i focused on my career.
and now i'm alone and poor.
(but at least i have autonomy / government assistance 🙃)

i theorize that once there's no example of a healthy family unit, people just stop wanting to replicate one.

Personally the biggest factor i can think of as to why i didn't start a family is trauma from my parents fighting and getting divorced when i was an adolescent.
