He did also get 250k more votes than De Blasio did, and 300k more votes than Adams, while running against a (bad) Democrat. Thinking seriously about it is to think about the whole Dem coalition, with different candidates across the country running different candidates that win their races, is good?

You’re both not wrong and Buck won by 24 in 2022, Boebert only won by 11 in 2024. She won’t lose, we’ll spend a bunch of money on it - but it could easily be a six point loss with all that money!

what's so tedious about the popularism "debate" is that none of its adherents actually believe it. Yglesias spent a huge chunk of his career arguing for urban upzoning when the idea was political suicide. His last book was an argument for a massive increase in immigration — also unpopular!
