Yeah :'( Mel had a very difficult upbringing, she was put into a metaphorical box that she didn’t want. And I imagine she does use those lessons from her youth to protect herself 😭

I think that Jayce and Mel's relationship is important to their character arcs, as well as they give each other comfort when no one else can compare. Jayvik is endgame but Meljay is also important and interesting and I will always honor it somehow in my writing!

ANYWAY it always makes me uncomfortable when people bash Mel. I am white and it is a sad fact that some people are racist assholes. But they will never ruin Mel for me ❤️ +

It's my opinion that she genuinely likes and cares for Jayce, and by extension Viktor. I think her making a move on Jayce is her making a choice for herself for once, not because he can give her power or keep her safe. He can simply love her.+

Here's what I love about Mel: she IS manipulative, but she has a kind heart. She makes certain choices to survive, but at her core I think she's a good person in a shitty world. Jayce being upset with her is just like you say: he is VERY unwell, scared, trying to find answers to a tragic situation+
