Democrats are ready and willing to negotiate with Republicans to reopen the government. But we won’t let them take health care away from Oregonians and Americans.

We flew back to DC from the Pacific NW to reopen the government, but Republicans are not even here. They need to come back from vacation, end this shutdown, and join us in halting steep increases in health care costs.

Sec. Noem: Stop using our city as a prop for your dangerous political schemes. We do not need or want military on our streets.

We must continue to strive for an end to the war, a return of all remaining hostages still held in Gaza, a massive and immediate influx of aid for Palestinians, and a swift rebuilding of Gaza so we can finally move to a lasting and sustainable peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Today we remember the nearly 1,200 people viciously murdered by Hamas on the devastating day of October 7, 2023, and we mourn for all of the lives lost and affected.

I am headed back to Washington, D.C. to continue to fight for the people of NW Oregon. As we move through this critical time for our state and country, please continue to reach out to my office.

Thank you to everyone who attended my town hall meetings this past weekend. I spoke with constituents in Seaside and Beaverton, and it is overwhelmingly clear that the district I represent is gravely concerned about the future of democracy, the environment, healthcare, and more.

I stand with federal workers and their families. As a Member of Congress, I should not be paid when dedicated federal servants are not.

Late tonight, a federal judge issued a sweeping new order prohibiting the president from deploying any National Guard forces—from any state or DC—to Oregon.

The president cannot keep playing whack-a-mole with different states’ Guard units to get around court orders and the rule of law.

A federal judge in Portland just granted the State of Oregon & City of Portland’s request for a Temporary Restraining Order to block the Trump administration from sending the National Guard to Portland. That’s good news. Portland doesn’t need or want the military on our streets or in our communities
National Guard troops temporarily blocked from deploying to Portland, judge rules
While the U.S. president is entitled to a great level of deference, the judge wrote, “ 'a great level of deference' is not equivalent to ignoring the facts on the ground.”

The alleged misbehavior of one conservative influencer does not justify sending troops into Portland or the withdrawing needed federal funding. Our local law enforcement officers are well equipped and able to handle any unlawful activities. 🧵

This will mean higher energy bills for Oregonians and the entire country, and a weaker grid.Oregonians want cleaner, cheaper energy. They don’t want an Administration that takes a political hatchet to lawfully awarded projects. This will hurt families, undermine energy security, and harm the economy.

Doing this during a shutdown shows that it’s about politics, not economics or reliability.
repbonamici.bsky.social
Families are struggling with high utility bills, but now the Trump Administration is illegally terminating hundreds of affordable energy projects across Oregon and the U.S. meant to lower costs and strengthen the grid.
Oregon to lose an additional $400 million in federal climate grants
Oregon and 15 other Democratic states are losing nearly $8 billion toward climate projects, after the Trump administration terminated multiple federal grants.
