A replica of the plaque honoring the heroes of January 6 hangs outside of my #TX07 office in gratitude to the US Capitol Police who defended our Capitol and our country that day and as a reminder that American democracy requires all of us to be courageous and committed in its defense.

🧵 Today, January 6, marks five years since a mob surrounded the United States Capitol and tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power that is at the very heart of our democratic society. (1/4)

Across the country, green card applications, naturalization interviews, and even oath ceremonies are being paused or cancelled on the basis of the applicants’ national origin.

@jayapal.house.gov and I led our colleagues in a letter demanding an end to this discriminatory and unjustified pause.

No servicewomen should feel unsafe when receiving care through our military health system. I joined @demwomencaucus.bsky.social in demanding justice and accountability for our servicemembers and their families betrayed by the sexual misconduct at Fort Hood and Tripler Army Medical Center.

Congratulations to Vidya Ganesh and Scarlett Yu, winners of the 2025 #TX07 Congressional App Challenge!

After researching machine learning and AI, they developed their app, TuneIn, which offers many of the benefits of a hearing aid through technology people already own.

In the decades since our world discovered and came to terms with AIDS, millions have been lost—but many more have been saved, thanks to testing, awareness, and treatment.

Today, we honor the memories of those we’ve lost by continuing the fight to end the HIV epidemic. #WhatIsRememberedLives

The Senate must repeal the obscene payouts guaranteeing millions of dollars to Republican Senators whose phone records were subpoenaed in the investigation into the events of January 6, 2021.

That's why I joined @morelle.house.gov to demand that Leader Thune undo this corrupt law. ⬇️

President Trump claims that prices are "way down," but that's not what our neighbors are feeling or experiencing. Under Trump, a majority of Americans say that Thanksgiving is more, not less, expensive.

We are in a cost of living crisis, and President Trump and Republicans are making life more – not less – expensive. Since Donald Trump took office, the average family in Texas has paid $339 in higher prices that are fueled by his policies.

I joined @mcbride.house.gov and @repmarktakano.bsky.social in a letter to Speaker Johnson condemning the rise in anti-transgender rhetoric and urging him to uphold the rules of decorum as Members engage in debate. There is no place for the use of slurs or harmful rhetoric in the People's House.

Public servants—from soldiers to senators—swear an oath to the United States Constitution. President Trump's post calling for political violence against Democratic members of Congress who have reminded people of that fact is not merely irresponsible and indefensible, it is dangerous.
