With big risks like this, they either go and make their own thing, or they invest to ensure suppliers can work at their scale. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a massive investment in a RAM supplier soon. Apple can make the RAM supply materialize, but whoever is next in line is really screwed.

I saw them play the whole thing on the 20th anniversary tour this year… but not in order, which was kind of weird. Still amazing though.
