My full statement on the second anniversary of the October 7th attacks.

“Today marks two years since the horrific attacks of October 7, when Hamas brutally murdered, kidnapped, and terrorized innocent people. They were acts that shocked the world. My thoughts are with the families who are still grieving and the hostages who have not been returned home. This anniversary is also a time to recognize the immense suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza, where Netanyahu's ethnic cleansing campaign has taken far too many lives. I continue to call for the protection of innocent lives, for the release of all hostages, and for a lasting peace that ensures safety, dignity, and self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians.”

1) This is incredibly racist.

2) He is referring to EMTALA, a Reagan-era law that requires a hospital to provide life-saving care, regardless of your ability to pay.

Vance: "If you're an American citizen & you've been to the hospital in the last few years, you've probably noticed wait times are especially large & very often somebody who's there in the ER is an illegal alien. Our military is not trained for de-escalation or peacekeeping, they are trained to kill efficiently. We should not be sending them into our cities to police civilians.

Not only does this go against the Posse Comitatus Act, it will only escalate tensions.

First of all, food assistance already isn't getting out the door because you cut SNAP by almost $200 BILLION in your budget.

Also, we wouldn't be in this mess if you didn't cut $1 TRILLION from health care too.

This week, my staff & I were finally able to complete an oversight visit at ICE's Eugene Field Office. Read more about the conditions here & at the statement on my website linked below.

My office is here to be a resource & we can help with any ICE related issues or questions.

“In short, this is a processing facility with basic resources including water, a restroom for detainees and air conditioning. Detainees are split into two rooms, male and female.

"Officials told me that, on average, detainees at the Eugene Field Office are there for four hours but up to a maximum of twelve. I was also told that people who are processed through this facility are sent to the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Washington.

“I am adamant that every member of our community knows their rights and knows that everyone in this country is entitled to due process as provided for in our Constitution. If you want more information on your rights, please view the ‘Know Your Rights’ page on our website or contact our office.

“In the coming months, I plan to visit the facility in Tacoma to inspect the facility and the conditions there.”
