This week, I visited Eugene Triplett's fifth-generation family farm in Culpeper.

As the only Virginian on the Ag Committee, I was honored to visit his farm, hear his story, and discuss how I'm working to save programs that help him sell produce to local churches and schools.

While Republicans are on vacation, six million mothers and young children who rely on WIC are at risk of going hungry.

I’m ready to support a bipartisan budget that protects these families — I just wish my Republican colleagues were, too.
Government shutdown threatens food aid program relied on by millions of families
Experts say a food aid program that helps 6 million low-income mothers and young children will run out of federal money unless the government shutdown ends within two weeks. States

Today marks eight days since the government shut down.

Extreme Washington Republicans got us into this mess but apparently have no intention of fixing it.

House GOP & Senate GOP, it's time to do your job.

There is no such thing as a “clean CR” when this Administration has made clear that they put their own partisan politics over the people they serve. (5/5)

❌ There’s nothing “clean” about a bill that allows President Trump to withhold funds for pediatric cancer research. (4/5)

The Republicans’ “clean” bill to reopen the government is anything but. (1/5)

During last night's town hall, I shared the story of a Virginian who said not knowing if her next paycheck will arrive leaves her "paralyzed" with worry.

All because the House GOP & Senate GOP won't work with Democrats to reopen the government.

The partisan games must stop.

Yesterday, I met with Sheriff Decatur at the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

We had a great discussion on how we can strengthen public safety, build stronger community partnerships, and bring more federal resources to support local law enforcement.

More than 6,500 Virginians tuned into my telephone town hall last night!

We covered everything from the hardships facing federal workers to what I’m doing on Capitol Hill to reopen the government and support those impacted across VA-07.

Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation.

The Trump admin is weaponizing this shutdown to illegally fire thousands of federal workers.

That is absolutely unacceptable.

I’m backing @repjohnnyo.bsky.social ‘s bill to protect federal workers.

Hardworking Americans are not political pawns.

Trump has spent months attacking federal workers who provide critical services. Now he’s threatening mass layoffs if the government shuts down.

I introduced the SAFE Act to protect federal workers because they are not political pawns.

Lawyer and representative for tens of tens of thousands of federal employees here.

Speaker Johnson — federal employees are entitled to back pay when the government shuts down.

Hope this saves you a Google search.
White House memo says furloughed workers might not get back pay
Trump is using the threat of federal workforce cuts to force them to back the GOP’s clean continuing resolution.

Two years ago, Hamas executed a horrific massacre in Israel.

On this solemn anniversary, we remember the innocent lives lost and renew our commitment to ensuring every remaining hostage is reunited with their families.

It is their grief that must guide our pursuit of lasting peace in the region.

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the influence of Hispanic Americans on our nation's achievements, culture, and history. Their contributions are central to the strength of our communities and the story of our country.

House Republicans may still be on vacation, but my office is OPEN and working hard to reopen the government for the Virginians I represent.

As we enter week two of the government shutdown, my message hasn’t changed. I’m ready to support a budget — but only when it protects Virginians’ healthcare, invests in our public schools, and lowers costs for hardworking families.

Speaker Johnson cancelled votes instead of working to end this shutdown.

The House GOP has been on vacation since September 19.

I remain ready to vote for a budget to reopen the government — so long as it doesn’t sell out the Virginians I represent.

I’m hosting a telephone town hall on Monday at 6 PM to answer your questions and address your concerns as this government shutdown persists.

I hope you’ll join this important conversation.

Virginia is home to the hundreds of thousands of federal workers, service members, and contractors.

If these folks don't get paid when the government shuts down, lawmakers certainly shouldn't either. I'm leading a bipartisan bill to make this the law.

Listen, I never wanted a government shutdown.

But Republicans refused to negotiate and pushed a bill that hurts Virginia families. I could not in good conscience support it.

We need real compromise — and leaders willing to work across the aisle to make it happen.
Virginia federal workers face uncertainty as government shutdown looms
With just hours remaining before a potential government shutdown, federal workers across Virginia find themselves at the center of another political battle.

This morning, my House Democratic colleagues showed up to work ready to pass a budget that protects health care, invests in our public schools, and lowers costs for hardworking families.

If only the House GOP could say the same...
