My reasoning for not immediately recommending Linux has nothing to do with configurations or GUIs, but i can see where you're coming from. No, my reasoning is largely due to the fact that many applications just don't have Linux counterparts right now.

Personally I wouldn't use win11 if Microsoft would let you turn off those features, but considering that Windows is more or less a de facto monopoly (Linux is not something I would ever recommend to the average user), there's not much of an option if you want to continue to recieve security updates

As someone who works in tech and deals with Win11 on a regular basis, it's ultimately probably fine for 90% of people. There's concerns about data security and privacy considering Microsoft is pushing features like Recall, and the forced usage of their built-in AI but thats a personal preference.
