The government inherited a broken mental health system.

But it can't let the situation get any worse.

We must prioritise cutting mental health waiting times.

Our new report, Right Treatment, Right Time 2025, shows the devastating impact that waiting times have on people living with mental illness.

Things can’t go on like this. We must cut mental health waiting times.

We asked hundreds of people living with mental illness about their experiences. 74% said they did not get the right treatment at the right time.

On the day that the ONS published their annual suicide statistics, we want to spread a message of hope.

Because behind every number is a real person.
Because everyone deserves support.
Because there are always reasons to stay.

Too many people are waiting too long for support.

We need to see action on mental health waiting times.

Now.

Mental illness is not a trend.

A reminder that just because more people are speaking up doesn’t mean it’s fashionable.

Right now, with everything happening in the world, the news can feel overwhelming.

If you’re feeling unsettled and distressed, you’re not alone.

Our tips 👇

Using mental illnesses to describe everyday situations only reinforces stigma.

Let’s rethink this harmful language.

Share if you agree and find the facts on our website.
rethinkcharity.bsky.social
Everyone severely affected by mental illness deserves a good quality of life, no matter their circumstance.
rethinkcharity.bsky.social
Suicidal thoughts are common, hugely complex and can happen to anyone.

Using words that suggest they are a sin can add to stigma and fear of talking about them.

On #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, words matter.

This #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, share this post. You never know who might need it.

This weekend, our incredible fundraisers took on the Great North Run, raising a whopping £35,000!

We loved seeing so many of you on the route and around the charity village – every step and every donation makes a real difference.

Let’s show our amazing fundraisers some love – drop a comment below!

It’s time we have a society that provides those of us living with mental illness with everything we need to thrive.

If you have a 4G/5G mobile device, you'll receive a test alert from the government’s Emergency Alerts service on Sunday 7 September at 3pm.

The sound might shock or startle you.

Remember if you'd like to keep your phone hidden for any reason, you can turn it off.

Until we address the issues under the surface, we will continue to see increased demand on overstretched public services.

A graphic of an iceberg, where above the surface there are examples of how our mental health system is in crisis.

Under the surface, there are examples of societal causes of mental illness.

There are lots of reasons why people – particularly young people – are experiencing problems with their mental health.

What they need is better access to support, rather than having their grit and resilience questioned.
