Good for @newyorkstateag.bsky.social for successfully suing the bullies of Betar. Standing up to bullies, especially militant ones, is key to surviving this fascist moment. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/13/n...

Deborah Lipstadt didn’t wait until the suspect in the MS synagogue fire was arrested. She wanted to use the moment to blame protesters against genocide in Gaza. At his court appearance today, the suspect said “Jesus Christ is Lord” when read his rights by judge. Lipstadt is a shameless propagandist.

One friend @modernlanguage.bsky.social conference sent me this photo of the @stanfordpress.bsky.social book display and another friend told me that she’s the person, on whose account the “reserved” sign has been placed on this display copy of my and Harriet Murav’s “In the Shadow of the Holocaust.”

The first pre-publication review for our new translation, "In the Shadow of the Holocaust: Short Fiction by Jewish Writers from the Soviet Union,” is here. The review by Misha Krutikov is in Yiddish, in Forverts. forward.com/yiddish/7953... Excerpt in my translation. @stanfordpress.bsky.social

Some people—including some I happen to know, like this one here—are totally losing it over Mamdani’s line from his inaugural about the “warmth of collectiviism.” It’s basically the Gulag for them — and it’s as though unhoused people in our rugged individualism land didn’t actually freeze to death.

Yes, I do lurk on the FB page for this giant group formerly known as, I kid you not, MACA (they switched “mothers” to “parents” a couple of weeks ago). Who are mostly terrified about their wayward Jewish children, like here on account of Mamdani. Some there think Leon Uris would still do the trick.

Exhibit A in crying wolf about antisemitism one too many times such that the ability of the word to register actual discrimination against/hatred of Jews diminishes. No, unlike what Eve Barlow says, Bari Weiss is not a victim of antisemitism but is rightly criticized for her authoritarian stupidity.

Bari Weiss had been working assiduously over the years to meet this moment in exactly the way she just did. Shame on every idiot, useful and not, who tried to push this obvious charlatan as some free speech warrior on those of us who always knew. (Cartoon by @elivalley.bsky.social who always knew.)
