Like, if you just have a deep need to “be right on the internet” then yes, you’re technically correct. What I’m saying is that this has set the bar rather high to find and avoid something that it should be easy to assume is not in most food unless it’s specifically labeled otherwise.

Things with artificial sweeteners used to say “diet” or “sugar free” on the front label. Now, they’re in things with literally no indication beyond the ingredients. It’s a lot to ask to check the full label of every single item I buy every time and know every possible name of a sugar alcohol.

Not forced, but the number of stealthily added artificial sweeteners in recent years on things that don’t say so has gone up a startling amount. I hate finding out something contains aspartame because I suddenly have a horrible headache and don’t know why.
