Also non-clergy folks are welcome to reply as well. But i am genuinely curious if you think it fits and what it drives?

I am also following from a far, you can read the resolutions on the general synod website, but there are a number of interesting motions being considered tonight and hopefully tomorrow. (The C resolutions are always interesting!).

Ian Alexander and Claire Burns handled it all with clarity and grace, (with Claire's dry but deep knowledge of canons).
The nomination came from the college of Bishops, based on a request from the orders. I hope the Spirit was at work. We see based on the fruits of the decision!

I would love to know more about the factors that deterred earlier nominations.
(I guess most of that is hypotheses and guess work, which may not be productive either)

This is a great explanation!

Publically, the motion was without debate. So we can guess but without speaking to each member we might not know all the reasons. I sent Charles my thoughts separately, but they are only hypotheses.
The clergy motion had preamble, that indicated the mover's reasons.

Thanks for stitching it together. I took a lunch break in the middle, I miss the World of Weird Anglican Twitter, and hoped my comments supported us along the way. (I just followed the livestream through out my day).

House of clergy moving for additional candidates from house of Bishops, we will see if we get another candidate on the ballot. (Mover indicated he and others could not vote for either candidate in good conscience).

Ballot 4 results are in, Archbishop kerr-wilson is withdrawing for the next ballot. Again grateful for all nominees! Leaving Bishop Shaw and Bishop Parker on the ballot.

Ballot 3 Archbishop Chris Harper willingly steps off the ballot following these results, leaving Archbishop Kerr-Wilson, Bishop Shaw, and Bishop Parker on the ballot.

Glad it is helpful! I always enjoyed following the Anglican chat around synods on other platforms. The live stream is also available on YouTube. Archbishop Anne's address was wonderful earlier this week!

Laity has made a request for additional nominations, they are voting now. I am taking a pause of watching for lunch, and hopefully I will keep following the live stream after lunch.

Calls for additional candidates come from orders separately and then is voted on by order. (Sorry for Church geekiness. Clergy or laity can make that motion).
More questions of what happens if abstentions were substantial enough...
(Grateful for Chancellor Claire burns for her knowledge)!

As we move forward all candidates had recieved at least 10%, lowest number is removed. Bishop Lehman is removed from the ballot. Many thanks for his willingness to stand!

Ballot 2 is done, there was a canonical question asked about if abstentions are contrary to Canon Law, it was confirmed according to appendices. A second question if abstentions negates either ballot, again not substantial enough to change results significantly.

First ballot is done, moving to the second ballot. After the first ballot no names are dropped and then moving forward the lowest number of votes is dropped and additional nominees may be asked for from the college of Bishops! Come Holy Spirit!
