Honored to have been a keynote speaker at the NEA’s HBCU Summit 2025 in Atlanta. My talk, “From Protest to Power,” explored how faith, education, and action can transform communities.

As much as attendees thanked me for an inspiring message, they were the true inspiration. ✊🏾📚

Honored to have been invited by one of my heroes, Jim Wallis, to guest lecture for his Race, Faith & Politics class at Georgetown. Grateful for the chance to talk faith, justice, and hope with the next generation of leaders.

Standing with faith leaders at the Capital Jewish Museum.

“This reopening is a defiant act of hope—a declaration that memory matters and that culture endures.”
Grateful for moments like this.

Lifting President Biden and his family in prayer, with hope in my heart and faith that God still reigns, still heals, and still holds.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…” Isaiah 40:31

#PopeLeoXIV —the first U.S.-born pontiff—represents a powerful moment for the Church and the world.

With a pluralistic background, his election offers “a different view of U.S. values” and a bold contrast in divided times.

May his papacy be marked by social justice, compassion, and hope.

Once, Black people were banned from learning to read. Dr. Carla Hayden became the 14th Librarian of Congress—the 1st woman & 1st African American to lead it. A steward of truth and memory. Thank you, Dr. Hayden, for showing us what’s possible. #CarlaHayden #DefendTheBooks

A sacred moment—Pope Francis on the South Lawn with President Obama, fall 2015.
Faith and public life in rare harmony.

Rest well, Holy Father. Your life of justice, compassion, and mercy will not be forgotten.

Honored to preach at the historic First Church in Oberlin (1834), where Emerson, Douglass, Twain & Washington once stood.

Preaching is never just words—it’s service, provocation, and inspiration.

Nearly 35 years ago, after graduating from Morehouse, I returned home to give back by starting a Black history lecture series with friends. Today, communities like Elyria need it more than ever. (8/12/90)
