'what you permit you promote' was drilled into my head along with 'if you don't stand for something you're liable to fall for anything' - being a minority (espesh Black and Native) prepared me for these times 'cause things aren't much different for me. some folks would rather go along to get along.

In February 2025 alone, we tallied 2085+ protests, incl major protests in support of federal workers, LGBTQ rights, immigrant rights, Palestinian self-determination, Ukraine, demonstrations against Tesla, & protests against Trump’s agenda more generally. This compares w/ 937 protests in Feb 2017.

In a purple town in a red county in a blue state, we are somewhere in between. Eg, the schools sort of protecting trans and immigrant kids but not willing to speak up publicly about it, and the lesson plans are SUCH a mixed bag for my middle schooler. Here's to nuance beyond red and blue.
