So much for the party of “family values.” They’re now doing everything they can to protect pedophiles. Just insane.

On May 23, Trump signed an executive order misleadingly titled "Restoring Gold Standard Science". It guts scientific integrity policies across agencies. We sent a letter to OSTP, which is the office drafting new guidance. Learn what’s at stake in @jbd-phd.bsky.social's new blog.
OSTP Has a Choice to Make: Science or Politics?
Last week, the Union of Concerned Scientists sent a letter to the Director of OSTP, Michael Kratsios, outlining our concerns about this EO and recommending what should be included in the new guidance ...

The U.S. Senate is currently considering a budget reconciliation bill that quietly includes language that could devastate our public lands. It would:
- Make over 250 million acres of public land eligible for sale
- Mandate the sale of at least 2 million acres of Forest Service and BLM land

No matter where someone was born, the United States should never tolerate inhumane treatment. Yet right now, detainees in ICE custody are facing conditions that are simply unacceptable in any country that claims to uphold human rights, let alone one that prides itself on freedom and the rule of law.

A reminder: Both sheriffs and local police have the right to refuse ICE detainers. These requests are voluntary and not legally enforceable under federal law. Across the country, many sheriffs and police departments choose not to cooperate and that choice is fully within their legal rights.

There was no (well, a very wee bit) about Paul Revere but it was good to hear from a senator who is as alarmed as I am about what is going on.

Thanks to @hcrichardson.bsky.social and Sen. Angus King of Maine for this conversation.

Governance is my love language 🤣😛
So… this was supposed to be about Paul Revere’s ride, but the Senator just unloaded about the Trump administration and its Republican enablers. Far more newsworthy than I expected. (You can probably see me shifting to “crap, this was not the interview I prepped!” but the result was memorable.)

DOGE claims to have saved $115 billion, but we can confirm this figure is overstated by 77.3%, meaning the actual savings amount to only $26.05 billion. To verify this, we had to rely on internal connections, as Musk has obscured details of these claims on DOGE despite promises of transparency.
